1) I am not super woman and I shouldn’t try to be. At the beginning of this semester I had a lot going; 18 credits, working in the dinning commons, tutoring a few times a week and two new leadership positions in my clubs (not to mention trying to have some sort of social life and sleeping). I knew I was certainly not the only student that had a lot going on, in fact I am pretty sure everyone that I have met in PLA this semester was just as busy or busier but for me it just became too much. I felt like I was drowning because I didn’t feel like I had enough time to get my work done or at least not enough time to do it well. I grappled with this feeling for a few weeks making myself more and more miserable until I finally came to terms with the fact that I just can’t do everything. Something had to give, which it did (eventually after much going back and fourth) and I have been much happier ever since. In the end I realized that it’s better to do less and put 100% into each thing than do as much as possible and not do my best.
2) Contacts that you can sleep in are cool. This is just a little thing and a bit silly to put in this post, I know, however, having contacts that can be slept in has made my life so much easier and my morning routine faster. As college students, we all know how important time is. So if you wear contacts and don’t already have the ones I am talking about, I suggest you get them.
3) Sometimes it’s okay to do nothing (for a little while). I really like to be busy and my best days are the ones where I feel I have accomplished something. Sitting still isn’t really my thing. However, some days it really is nice to take a breather and just lie down on my bed for 20 minutes and literally do nothing. It’s really not a crime to relax a bit.
4) Being motivated can be difficult. Last year I didn’t seem to have a problem being motivated. This semester though, there has been some times when I really struggled to motivate myself to get my work done. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about what I want to do after college and it is very intimidating sometimes. Since the future is uncertain (as in I really have no clue what I would like to do once I graduate) I sometimes find myself wondering what I am working for.
5) At the same time, it’s going to be okay. After all, I am just finishing up my 3rdsemester at PSU. I don’t have to have all the answers yet. I know there will be opportunities that come my way, I just have to take advantage of them!
I am sure there I could write about a few more things but I have decided to keep it short and sweet for once.
Have an awesome break!
